The time to build an Army under the Duke of York with several supporting Divs has allowed me the opportunity to land in force with the aim of capturing the port of Boulogne and establishing a bridgehead with a supply hub. Plus I was lucky enough to intercept a largish French fleet and do some major damage off the French Coast north of Boulogne and earn 18 NMs. Spain has not progressed well with Gibraltar under attack, which has diverted a division from the Boulogne force to shore up Gibraltor. To date my events have been working as advertised. Of interest I recieved notifications that France accepted Austria's offer of peace
G'day all,
With the release of the game and the conclusion of the beta test rc1 candidate, we will stop this game. Overall, we enjoyed the chance to play the game prior to release. More importantly, we enjoyed being able to show how the game has evolved.
At the end, the French were operationally dislocated. Austria had been conquered. The Russians were advancing but should have stopped due to the Pressburg Decree. But, with the British now landed and taking Bolougne, Napoleon is still weeks away from being able to re-assemble the Grande Armee around Lille to conduct any attack to retake ports and the northern French coast. France was out of horses, and probably needs the rest of the year to re-constitute it's cav and arty.
The game itself was fun to play. The provinces are small enough and the forces enough to really get a feel for the density and MTSG needed to make Napoleonic manoeuvre successful. Let alone the naval game which the French don't really get too much chance to use. The Supply and reinforcements aspects played well. It takes at least weeks to reconstitute damaged divisions let alone where key resources ie horses, are absent. The diplomacy game is usable, and we showcased some of that in the previous PBEM AAR in the previous post.
Eno and I hope the above AAR's were fun to read, and it gives you a good feel for WoN.
