Weak Prussians???

Mon Oct 17, 2016 5:16 am

...how come no Prussian army has a "power-rating" above 500?, while all of the French are in the thousands? ...Prussia was the, by far most well-equipped, in all manners of speaking, among the central powers, to actually mount a defense to stop Napoleon's campaigns in the eastern continent, as seen from France, yet, in this game it just seems an insurmountable task, to get their armies up-to-speed, and ready for the french onslaught... historically they were overrun, but that could've easily turned out a totally different story, something this game does not recognize, in any way..?

The power ratio is just an indicator, and not always accurate as it includes some FoW if you see the "'other side"... the Prussians units are of the actual historical quality....and Prussian leadership the same...which was the main cause of defeat in 1806. The game renders this rightly

Prussia was easily crushed and conquered by France in 1806.

At Auerstadt, Davout destroyed the main Prussian army, which outnumbered him 2 to 1. Napoleon defeated a smaller Prussian army at Jean. The French then launched a three week pursuit that resulted in the capture or death of two thirds of Prussia soldiers, and the conquest of four fifths of Prussia. It was Napoleons most crushing victory over another nation.

Prussian troops were brave and well trained, but their tactics were hopelessly obsolete, and their leadership was abysmal, especially at the higher levels.

In contrast, the Grande Armee was at the top of its game, had numerical superiority, far more veteran troops, most of whom were veterans of the Austerlitz campaign, superior tactics, and superb leadership at every level.

The game accurately reflects this.

If you really want to know what's going on with the Prussian Army (Warning!! This is a cheat, and you may see more than you want to; it might spoil the game for you), you can always load the Prussian side and look at the Prussian Army stack.

It might be that it is not very well organized, ie divisions are not full, with independent brigades soaking up CP's (Command Points) and causing the stack to lose power due to CP malus.

But if that is the case organizing the Prussian Army to not require any CP's beyond what the army stack provides, can only change the malus penalty from -35% to 0, which might advance the stack's power up to about 635, but it will also make it far more mobile and fight better than the removal of the -35% alone.

But aside from Prussia having other stacks elsewhere I doubt there is any way to make Prussia as strong as France; it's simply a question of resources and time.
