Reconnaissance and keeping track of the enemy.

At the most basic level, the measures needed to find the enemy and make sure once you find them, you can keep track of them, would be easy.

It boils down to detection and hide levels.

A brigade of light cavalry that is nimble and has a patroller trait leader...should be able to sniff things out, right?

Set that brigade to off posture, and feint mode...say they find an enemy, and withdraw before suffering damage, the question is, do they follow that enemy stack? What happens if it's the 1st day of a turn, they withdraw then what? The enemy will disappear.

If I am playing Britain I like using the cards for cavalry recon, screen etc, which works since you have a small army but with France or Russia there are simply not enough cards in the game.
