Disappearing army stacks.

Ran into weird disappearing army stack issue. Had three army stacks engaging Massena's isolated stack, I've beat him back from Vienna inflicting heavy casualties, in turn suffering some too. One of my Army stacks simply disappeared, officers scattered into different provinces. All stack elements missing, except the officers.

Is there a red line through officer. Is it locked for turns? Mouse over the officer and check. Most likely your corp got decimated and leaders injured.

Indeed, it seems the corps units were completely destroyed and/or captured (guns, wagons...) during battle or by hits suffered on pursuit.
Leaders of destroyed units can be killed or wounded. On the later case they will be send to some nearby city and lockled in places for some turns while they recover from their wounds.

Yeah, found out the hard way. Apparently Benningsen's force was too beat up, being some 240 strong, while Massena's 1200 stack had ton of guard units, so Benningsen just got brushed aside, except that event didnt even register in the beginning of turn reports, all it said was "Benningsen is wounded." While it still generated other battle reports. This needs to be fixed, so even small skirmishes get detailed reports.
Also learned to spare my units and not run them dry, just rotate them into reserve stack to recuperate.

My experince has been that small units with high morale all die and their leaders get captured or sent to nearby cities. In the 2nd seniaro against the Austrians, if Bessres corps gets into battle, his corp {Stack} is destoryied and Bessres gets moved to a nearby city. Bessres's corp is made up of small guard units and Bessres has a good Strategic value so his forces get into battle and destoryed before they retreat. They only way I could find to keep Bessres's corp from being destroyed was not to get into battle with the corp.

Because Bessre's Corp is made up of Guards, it has a high combat power rating but very few actual troops which takes very few hits to be destroyed.
