Funny game mechanic, Kutuzov stays sober for months, then as soon as there is a fight to be fought, he gets wasted and fails you and your entire deployment order and screws up your entire campaign. Get rid of him as soon as you click on his portrait, under current version he is worthless and very dangerous to his own side.

Well he was shot in the head twice and saved by brilliant, for the time, brain surgery. It did cause some erratic decision making though.

He also was a Mason, a big no no among the Russians, (both American and French revolutions being Masonic revolutions actually). Was too passive, and missed too many opportunities, also on numerous occasions ignored pleas for reinforcements at critical moments. Beside the huge Soviet propaganda and near sainthood, there is a lot of talk of Kutuzov being a traitor actually. Furthermore in old Imperial Russia he was practically in oblivion in comparison to other Russian commanders.

And Russians love their vodka.

And anyway, the "drunk" story is mostly scripted event affecting the August campaign (to delay the Russians)...it won't affect them much after 1805....and, during an Invasion of Russia, Kutusov will "improve"....

How subtle is that what a nice touch. And the frustration involved sorry Commisiar and my sympathies but I think this adds to the flavour of the game

Yup, glad you not covering anything up or making any excuses for Kutuzov. Wish there was Purge an Officer option, but that one is an advanced futuristic state tech unfortunately.

Yes it does. My main frustration being, my favorite officer Yermolov was killed because of it, had a great bright future planned for him.
