Leader Portrait Mod

Once there's a mod forum set up for Wars of Napoleon, this can be moved, but for now I'll post it here.
I'll take a break from working on EAW leader pics to work on adding some missing leaders for WON. These won't be in the same style as the official pics, I lack the skill needed to do the cartoon look the game uses
So I'll just be using existing paintings and drawings found on the net and adding them pretty much as is. So these won't match the graphics already in game perfectly, but I think they'll be better than simply using the generic generals graphics.
Since I generally play as Great Britain, I'll be focusing on British leaders to start with.
If you want to help, please feel free to add your own efforts at making pics for any missing leaders.

Sir Edward Pakenham (Has a portrait in game but it's of some fake general who's twice Pakenham's age)

Quite nice! I would suggest you wrap these files in a single zip for people

Thanks!
Absolutely. I'll do that once I've made enough to make it worth the effort!

How do I add these images to the game, please, so they show up in my game?

There's a bit of work involved!
The Army pics need to go in the directory: Wars of Napoleon\NGC\Graphics\Armies&Fleets\Leader Armies
The Unit pics go in: Wars of Napoleon\NGC\Graphics\Units\Leader Units
The mdl pics go in: Wars of Napoleon\NGC\Graphics\Portraits\Leader Portraits
Then you have to go to the directory: Wars of Napoleon\NGC\GameData\Models
Once there, search for the leader's last name. Then use notepad or wordpad to edit the line in the mdl file(s) that looks like this:
Portrait = Unit_GBR_General1.png
Replace the Unit_GBR_General1.png line (it won't always look exactly like that, it's different for each nation and even different generals within the same nation ) with the name of the file you get here. So for general Prevost, you'd add Unit_GBR_Prevost.png
Then delete the Models.Cached file from the models directory. Re-load the game and you should see the new pics!
Hope that helps!

I updated the Unit pics for the first five guys posted above since they were zoomed out a bit too far and didn't quite match up well with the official pics in game.
I'd recommend re-downloading these and overwriting any of the above pics you already downloaded.

I am trying to find a younger picture for Muhammed Ali for the game.

Thanks but that's actually his older brother William, who's not in the game though he was a pretty well known general himself.
Once the db is released I'll probably mod him in though.

As I mentioned in another thread, it's almost impossible to find much good stuff for the Ottomans

Self serving bump since this is in danger of falling off the first page.
It's possible that it might be a day or two before I have more to post, but there's plenty more to come!

Hi Lukasberger,
first of all, thanks for your amazing work with portraits!
I've a suggestion for you, as I've noticed that Eyre Coote's portrait in game is the one from his uncle who fought in India and died in 1783.
I couldn't find any better portrait of the Napoleonic Coote than this
http://www.magnoliabox.com/art/559256/general-sir-eyre-coote-1762-1823-british-soldier I would do the portrait myself but my graphic skill are not very good...maybe you can add it to the game eventually?
Thanks again

Mohammad Ali
This all I can find before the spate of portraits done when he was quite old. Judaism and Islam were OBVIOUSLY not thinking about how much they would be inconveniencing
us gamers when they decided portraits were sacrilegious.

I've seen that attributed as being Muhammad Ali Pasha in a bunch of places, that's an extremely dubious identification though.
The can be little doubt imho that's wrong and that image is actually of
Mehmed Ali Pasha.
The uniform is that of the 1860-1870 era, certainly not the Napoleonic era, as is the style of the drawing. The face and the medals appear to almost exactly match those of Mehmed Ali.
