It is my sad duty to inform you, AGEOD forums, that the original Paradox OT AAR has ended after a incident that resulted in the effective surrender of the Western Entente. Luckily a sequel has been organized and I, the Austro-Hungarian player, will document its proceedings here. _______________________________________________________________
So it is finally here! War! Austria may finally avenge herself upon her enemies, and no more will politicians in Budapest and Wein withhold funding from the K.u.K army for petty political purposes. I am in control now, and soon the backstabbing Italians, the terrorist kingdom of Serbia, and the gaping maw of the Russian horde will all be smashed. The declarations follow shortly from Serbia's rejection of our ultimatum and its insistence on harboring the terrorists who shot a Hapsburg. Whether or not one liked the man, such barbarisms cannot be allowed to occur and Serbia will pay the price for them.
We will prosecute the war against their Russian enablers first, and once they have been weakened and the winter snows guard us against counterattack the bulk of our armies will move south to show those who would dare to insult five-hundred years of Hapsburg might and majesty that every once in awhile, you come across someone you shouldn't have messed with. At the moment our armies are still mobilizing for the most part, but one is mobilized already and will move into Chopin this turn. They will be joined by a corps from the North and then hold against the inevitable counterattack from General Brusilov. Chopin is a better defensive position that the one we currently hold, and the surrender of the fort is likely to have a deleterious effect on Russian morale.
After that is dealt with we will move in on our other objectives, Dubno is likely to be the easiest to achieve before the end of august, the others will probably come later.
In the Balkans Potiorek moves into place to pin the Serbian army into defending Belgrade until winter comes. No one wants revenge more than he, as he was in the car with Franz Ferdinand when he was shot and had personally assured him of his safety. He will be a useful asset in....pacifying the Serbian population and would make a good governor of Serbia & Bosnia after the war is over.
I concentrate the K.u.K navy under admiral Horthy. With a bit of luck, and assuming only the French navy ends up in the blockade box of the med until Italy enters, I may see an opportunity to join battle with them. I'll send some destroyers or other small ships as a recon element in the Blockade box. Submarines would be better, but I don't have any. The final Tegetthoff-class Battleship will be done next turn (Szent Istvan) and will complete fleet with some 5100 or so power.
Warplans Chosen:
Austria-Hungary: Kaiser
Germany: Moltke
Russia: Grand Duke
France: Luxembourg Plan
That's all for this turn. Tune in soon to see the carnage begin.
