I assume OHL stands for Oberste Heeresleitung and he's the supreme commander on that front. No?

That's certainly richtig.

But what means Gdl? Generalleutnant would be Gld. General der Infantrie? Never heard such am assignment but it could be possible.

I believe I also have noticed that sometimes the name dissappears, and I have seen one stack (Bulgaria) that was completely empty. There was no picture, no name, nothing.

I just checked, GdI indeed means General der Infantrie.

And yes, GdI would be General der Infanterie, just like GdK and GdA (still others of the sort in WWII). It was a quite common for the higher ranks (iirc the highest possible ranks before Field Marshals were introduced)...

P.S.: No "d" in Generalleutnant...
