Disappointing Sound Design - Cannonading

Tue Oct 07, 2014 9:30 am

I am not really pleased with the sound design in To End All Wars.

In particular, the thunder of cannon disappointed me greatly.

Cannons thunder in WWI should sound as if the world ends!
But the guns in the game sounds like you were shaking marbles in a tin can. :non:

I think you are slightly exaggerating, sound used for artillery is often:

AGE2_campaign_guns_salvoes.mp3

Which is not that 'light' :)

But as a proof of goodwill, more 'heavier' sounds will be added for the next version. I take this opportunity discussing sounds to point out that all sounds in EAW battles are generated dynamically by checking what the actual elements committed into battles are doing! If you hear a sound of machinegun or a tank, then this particular element went into battle. If you hear a German voice indicating a retreat, then at least a stack made of German/Austrian units are trying to retreat... There are not that many wargames doing that...

Won't agree here. :D
If the canons starts spitting fire, I can't hear Armageddon!

This is WWI - Give us Armageddon! We want to xxx in our pants and lose our dental fillings.

Well, there are not many companies that can compete with AGEOD. ;)

Ok, seriously.
No marbles - but it sounds more like the firing of a rifle bullet as the thunder of numerous and huge WWI guns. :(
