Love this game and the Civil War one too.

I see references to penalties for mixing troops from different nations or not having the right nationality officer in command. What are these penalties? Are they severe? I guess they are applied during battles but I don't know if they really matter or not.

Hi!
The reason is that mixing troops without a "right" commander require more Command Points so the stack have bigger chance to get a penalty due to overflow.
These penalties are applied during battles and they affect the stack movement speed.
They are severe if stack`s penalties more than 10%.
