Region Definitions

I am trying to mod the travel time for an ocean region. It appears that if you use a “JumpLink” then the travel times are greater than if it is only defined as adjacent. However, I have been unable to determine the exact nature of how to specify the travel time.

Region 02925 (South Pacific) has this line: JumpLink2 = 2923|27

This code segment means there is a connection between the South Pacific (2925) region and the South Atlantic (2923) region. Further, because it is a JumpLink the time to enter the region is greater than the time to enter a region defined as adjacent. Tests reveal a light cruiser will take 6 days.

I am trying to increase the travel times. I have been unable to determine the significance of the number 27. Numbers in that position do not seem to have a direct relationship with travel times.

Anyone have any ideas?

Hi,

27 is the alias for terrain used for the Jumplink

You can find Terrains data in EAW\GameData\Terrains

27 is LongTransitionLink

Thanks. That was very helpful.

Is it possible to mod the map?

I would like to add a "Coast of Falkland Islands". Trying to do it directly in the text document seems like an impossible task.

I am not sure I do understand your question.

Do you want to add a region to the map or change the name of an existing one ?

There is a box for the Falkland Islands which is coded as a land region. I would like to split it into 2 parts: (1) The "Coast of Falkland Islands" as a water region and (2) the "Falkland Islands" as a land region.

Essentially, I would like to create another region.

That is a major task and you will have to use the ExMap tool.

You can have a look at this thread http://www.ageod-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=132&t=53394&p=408642&hilit=ExMap#p408642

Feasible with patience.

Thanks for your quick response.

Looks like exMap is beyond my skills.

Since I am trying to lengthen the travel time between the South Pacific and the South Atlantic perhaps the best approach would be to create a new terrain with the speed value wanted and use that terrain in the JumpLink.

Did you try using 28 instead of 7 as terrain for Jumplink ?
It should extend quite a lot the travel time,

From Long to Very Long Transition?

Bohémond, conoces todos los intríngulis de los juegos de Ageod!

From South Pacific to South Atlantic corresponds with the strait of Magallanes, bad weather and difficult to navigate I guess, at least in Master and Commander :)

Yes, I have tried 28 for Very Long Transitions. It results in 15 days for a German light cruiser to travel from the South Pacific to the South Atlantic. If we use 27 for Long Transitions, then it takes 6 days to go from the South Pacific to the Falklands and another 6 days to go from the Falklands to the South Atlantic or a total of 12 days for the British player.

I think these travel times are too short especially in the age of coal, so I would like to use Very Long Transitions for the South Pacific-Falklands-South Atlantic route and, thus, would need another terrain for a direct South Pacific-South Atlantic route. The Falkland Islands are coded as a land region (there is no Coast of Falklands), so the German player will never be able to enter the region (unless they take it away from the British).

So you want these 2 regions, land and coast. But the Exmap tool is a complete mystery to me :non:

You can create a Very Very Long Transitions link.
And used as a link from 2923 to 2925.

Do not hesitate if you have any question.

Here is a thread where I create Exmap programs for every ageod game. Unfortunately there is no map.bmp map file for TEAW. But if it is found, or we create it ourselves, then I'm ready to make a working Exmap TEAW.

Cannot you create it with the file I posted?

Not the proper map.bmp, but it is the whole map.
