Moving Armys with inactive commander

Tue Aug 16, 2016 12:29 pm

Hi !

Three questions:

1. If the commander of a army or corps is inactive, he can not be switched to offensive posture but still can move into enemy territory (but slower) correct ?

2. I though max. Command Point penalty was 35% ? But i have seen 49% too. How high can it go ?

3. To refill supplies and ammunition, is it enough to be inside a region with a depot or do i have to enter the structure itself with my army ?

Thanks

Another question i would like to add:

If i select one of my units inside a fort it shows me two bordering enemsy held regions in red...what does that mean ?

Hi, great questions, I have information on some of your questions.

1. Yes, he can be moved into an enemy territory. What will happen is he will switch to offensive posture and suffer some penalty for being inactive. So make sure you have a decent edge in combat power.
2. Well, things like #1 contribute. 35% is the maximum for command penalty from absence of leaders, but then if you move as an inactive force into a hostile region, more penalty is added.
3. Yes, just be in the region. It is the city or region supply value which matters.
4. The red is a zone of control issue. What this means is you cannot move into this region. As you learn more you will learn some tricks to help you move into the red regions, but mostly it is telling you if you attempt this move it will not happen because your opponent has more power and loyalty.

I have another question about supplys.

To refill "Ammunition Trains" units (i hope you know what i mean). Basically the Supply units for Medium and Heavy artillery. To refill them, does the region they are in need to have stockpiled ammunition ?

Why do the Supply Trains (Horse Drawn) and Ammunition Trains not refill automatically if there is a supply line to the next depot ?
Or do they but really slow ?
How long does it take to refill a completely empty Supply Train unit when this unit is not in a region (military control by my forces) with a depot but is not cut off from the next supply source (depot) ?

Probably the best answer is found on page 63+ of the game manual. Supply wagons do refill if in a supply chain. Ammunition trains do also, but they only draw from and ammunition change. What is the challenge is to look for the bottleneck in any supply chain, as the smallest capacity is the limit to the rate of refill. The manual is pretty detailed about capacity of the supply chain.
