Cohesion and leaders

I recently realized that leaders have cohesion maximums and they gain or lose it depending on experience/battle wins & losses. Cohesion is also affected by NM, so does this affect cohesion maximums too?

I believe that battles are fought at the element level.

If an element has cohesion of 60 and his unit is attached to a corps leader with cohesion of 100, who in turn is part of an army with a leader of 130 cohesion and is fighting in a battle where the GHQ is in command and his cohesion is 120, does this affect how well the unit fights and is it quantifiable?
