General's attributes

Tue Dec 08, 2015 2:00 pm

I noticed that Open Order Tactician and Infiltration Tactician traits had identical pictures. Does that mean if generals with those two traits are in the same stack that the effects are not cumulative, therefore no +2 initiative and +5% firepower?

If not cumulative, does the higher seniority general's traits only apply?

No, attributes of the same 'field' are never cumulative...only one is used. This is why we try to avoid - in most of our games - giving traits of same field to generals...but sometimes a few escape our attention.

As far the one which applies, I have no clue...I would say the first one in the list of abilities

Sorry, Phillipe, I was not clear. One general has the Open-Order Tactician and a different general has the Infiltration Tactician trait. Both state the trait is for the stack they are in. I was wondering if both generals were subordinate generals in the same army stack if their traits would be cumulative. As expected, I did not think so. However, I am still not sure which trait would take precedence (both generals, I believe are 2-stars with different seniority). I would think seniority would be the determiner as to whose trait is used, but not sure.

Since the traits aren't cumulative, I will most likely place one of the generals in a different stack anyways.

Only the commanding general traits are considered, not the subordinates (unless specified as being usable as a subordinate). For details on working, you must ask Pocus

I decided to split the two general into different stacks. I was going to put both into an army, therefore neither one would be a commanding general (both traits were attributable to the stack and not needing to be the general in command).

However, for future reference, it would be nice to know how this situation would be handled, maybe Pocus or one of the other brainiacs in the forums will know. Thanks, Phillippe for your input; always appreciated.

The same trait is not cumulative, so two generals with open order do not add twice to the stack. But different traits do combine in. Open Order/Infiltration/Elan are 3 great traits to have in the same stack.

You need to check carefully on the traits. Some require the general to be the leader of the stack and others do not. Some apply to the unit the leader is in charge of and others apply to all elements of the stack, regardless of whether the general is leader or not.
