Since the game has areas such as Africa and China is it possible for Germany to try for an ahistorical result in those theaters? I really like trying to alter history in games like this.

It is difficult for Germany to keep high number of troops there without Navy support. SO, you are welcome to try, but against similar historical/resources constraints the German faced.
