Which comes first attack or move order?

Tue Mar 10, 2015 7:58 pm

On a rail hex with an enemy force . IF I do an attack and rail move out, which happens first? I would prefer to Attack on day one and rail also out on day one. What actually happens with a shared hex/province?

Thanks guys

That depends on your settings. If you chose "No delay" under the appropriate commitment tab in the options menu, then you have to fight. Anything else will see you leave unless you have less than 25% MC.

Well, there is still the order in which the sub phases, for each day, are processed. It is first 'move one day', and then 'check fights'.

Yes that's what happened moved and hence no fight in the contested hex. FYI I did have 100% MC at the time. The units were orange blue settings and it appeared the enemy was locked down.

Question#2

Similar situation -Shared Hex with a locked down enemy, this time I don't want to rail out. There is no way to ATTACK on day 1 and then defend later? The locked down enemy unit in my hex I want to smash but then turn to the defensive as a 6000 pt Russian stack is going to be on me in 6-7 days. If I stay on the Attack (orange/blue) setting I will then end up on the ATTACK again when this monster stack slams into the hex? Do my ARMY commanders assess that we are outnumbered 3 to 1? I would assume the Russians are on attack setting also. Who is determined to be the defensive ATTACKER?? :) Would it be the unit that presently controls the hex?

Thanks

You cannot change your offensive posture, however, if you are the owner of the region - stand pat with blue/orange and the opposing force will attack you. Then when the new force arrives, the original force will have lost and be out of subsequent rounds. My understanding is that if both forces are one the offensive, neither benefits from the terrain, such as entrenchments.
