Air RGD and some issues

Tue May 05, 2015 10:36 am

It's been great game and we've been into June 1938, some observations:

Ebbingford wrote:One thing we have noticed in our pbem is that the strategic bombing RGD is lopsided. The Nationalist side can cause a loss of 4 or 5 WS by using it, the Republican's RGD causes a loss of 25.....
On the plus side we don't think that these RGDs are actually working. :cool:
We also have our doubts about the bombing troops RGDs. If they are working then it is not noticable. The amount of cohesion loss that they cause seems to be negligable.

- Improve rail capacity seems to subtract 50 ptz despite 100 written in tooltip. And it doesn't seem to improve RC as mentioned in message log.
- Requete doesn't seem to be improve max cohesion of troops when combined with regulares, civil guards etc..

I've attached some backups in our game,
Thanks.

Edit: SelectFaction = $NAC
StartEvent = evt_nam_NAC_More_Rail_Check|999|0|NULL|NULL|NULL|NULL

Conditions
CheckIsPlayer = NULL
CheckOption = $gmaOptionPol;NAC_More_Rail;=;1
EvalMoney = >=;50
EvalWSU = >=;25

Actions
ChangeMoneyPool = -50
ChangeWSUPool = -25
ChangeRailPool = 100

In RepublicanPolOptions.zzz.sct requirements same for Republicans. Maybe I should check again, losing towns did probably decrease capacity. :(

The improve rail capacity option does work for the Republicans though.
"Umbrellas will not be opened in the presence of the enemy." Duke of Wellington before the Battle of Waterloo, 1815.

"Top hats will not be worn in the Eighth Army" Field-Marshal Viscount Montgomery of Alamein K.G.

It is a know issue, the strings are erroneus. It is as you see in the string.
I reproduced your game and the script seems ok.

It will be fixed in a future patch.

I imagine(hope?) there will be important new features, difficult to balance, and the beta of this future patch is long for this... :/

Leibstandarte thanks,

StartEvent = RGDScriptNacStratBomb|999|0|NULL|NULL|NULL|NULL

Conditions
Probability = 40

Actions

SelectFaction = $NAC
ChgVPCount = 10

SelectFaction = $REP
ChangeWSUPool = -10
DescEvent = evt_desc_NacStratBomb

Script:
Line 0: Started processing event: RGDScriptNacStratBomb
Line 0: This event is not yet referenced, base number of allowed occurences 999
Line 3: Probability evaluated: Probability 40 rolled 71 False
Line 7: SelectFaction, selected: Nationalists
Line 10: SelectFaction, selected: Spanish Republic
Line 14: Finished processing event: RGDScriptNacStratBomb

Probably it is working but failed rolls not informed in game log, it is ok. Maybe there should be more WS loss for Republican side.

For unit bombing maybe there should be more cohesion loss, especially for the mid&late game divisions that RGD doesn't seem to worth it. Units that bombed can cure cohesion easily by staying in region in that turn.

For the re-deployment exploit, it can be easily overcome by house rules but maybe it should be removed totally.

Just curious as to future support for both Espana and TYW - will that be delayed until after the new Napoleonic game is released? Both these games are gems, but they are gems that need polishing still, especially for PBEM balance.

I have changed this regarding cohesion lost for a future patch.
I still havent found a solution for the re-deployment.

Maybe re-deployment should be removed if agreed upon.

I am always torn between balance and history. I currently love both Espana and TYW for their historical play without play balance getting in the way to much. A few of the games get unbalanced historically by trying to balance pbem play. Sometimes I like balanced play, this is when I play chess. For historical games I am fine to play the underdog with little hope of success. This is why so many of the WIA scenarios are so fun to play. But also why Espana and TYW work so well.
