Leader Disappears

Sat Oct 11, 2014 8:51 pm

In ACW PBEM with latest patch, I was marching Union General Howard across rebel-controlled Texas (carefully avoiding enemy cities and forces) to go reach Union territory in New Mexico. He is in transit in Dimmit county headed to Frio next door (where I planned to calculate his next route). However, when the turn arrived, I was unable to find him on the map! I finally located him using the ledger, but he is invisible and inaccessible and I am unable to give him orders. I am not sure this will clear up or not when he ends his move next turn (as I said, he is in transit from last turn's move still, 1 day left). Not sure if this has anything to do with him being in 100 percent controlled enemy territory. There were no capture or other messages related to him, and I have sent leaders across enemy land before.

Thoughts? This seems like a bug. Perhaps the same one found here:

This issue has been noted in the beta forum.

You can access Howard through the ledger by clicking on the flag to the right of him, which will load him into the stack panel. You can then drag-n-drop his tab from the stack panel to give him movement orders.

Thanks. Will he reappear normally eventually? Or will he be like this for the remainder of the game?

He will reappear as soon as he is in a region where you have some detection value, which can also come from a neighboring region. Leader unit themselves have detection rating of 0, which is to prevent the player from using them as scouts.

In any region where you have >50% MC or >50% loyalty you will have a detection value of 2 in that region and 1 in all adjacent regions.

Detection values can also derived from your units using the highest detection rating of all of the elements, not in Passive Posture, you have in a region. Detection values are not cumulative and the highest will be used.
