Battle plan in PBEM

Since in single player the battle plan is selectable manually AND with the help of a "tutor", I think the general may choose the battle plan on its own accord when in PBEM (both players click on auto select plan) and then just change the tooltip on the settings page for the battle plan.
Thats'a ll folks

I don't understand.
I'm not a professional coder - I just understand it and document the stuff. It seems to me, though, it's next to impossible to have the Planner in PbeM, because Player A issues Orders ( the *.ord file, essentially) and sends the file(s) to his opponent. The oppo issues Orders (a second *.ord). The two *.ords are 'merged', so to speak, and the resulting battles, destinations, retreats, etc., are the interaction(s) between the two files.
I can't select a Battle Plan for a battle I don't know is going to happen. Even if I'm the Host, then I would be the only one who could use and select a Battle Plan. Not the desired outcome.
Far from an expert, but I have difficulties seeing how the BP could be implemented satisfactorily in PbeM.

Maybe I misunderstood your post but I don't understand the interest of having battle plan if you are forced to choose the "auto-select" option ?
And, as explained by GraniteStater, you can not let the PBEM players choose for the plan because you don't know when and where combat will happen.

I haven't played this in PBEM, the tooltip says it only works in single player. It can work in multiplayer by simply letting the general pick the strategy for you during the turn resolution. It's a feature that doesn't need to be turned off for PBEM, just let the AI pick the strategy when and if combat happens and apply it, whatever the result (it's the same as when you are asked the battle plan and you tell the computer to select it for you).

Yes, but what is the point if the AI makes the selection for both players?

That you don't need to write the feature is disabled, you write the feature is taken over by the AI in PBEM games.
