Hi guys,
Love the game and the last one, but this crashing problem makes playing difficult and happens to each game around the end of '61. Please help.

I am don't really know how to upload the save file. It says it's an invalid file to upload, so if you need it please tell me how to upload it.
Cheers

Welcome to the forums :wavey:

Have you tried to zip the files? You can't directly upload your .hst and other relevent files, you need to zip them first. The limit for zip files is 4.77MB.

I believe you are compressing the turns with the in-game option? You should not use the option unless doing a PBEM probably.

Thx for the welcome :)
I unfortunately don't know how to make those files... sorry, bit of a noob. Could you enlighten me?

Thx for the help, the game now gets along but every four turns or so encounters a few errors and so I go back to the last save. Is there any way to fix this entirely?
thx

There is no known bug appearing regularly in 1.03, the only one I can think about is that rarely there is a problem with a specific AI algorithm, but most users did not encounter it yet, so your is probably not this one, or you have extreme bad luck... So I would say this is probably hardware related.
As soon as you get a crash, you should zip and post the logs directory of the game, it should be there

C:\Users\<your user name>\Documents\My Games\AGE\CW2

You use the a program like winzip, or 7zip, or some other type program to create a compressed file that has an extension of .zip at the end. As Pocus says, you need to send the .hst and .ord (if any) for the turn and usually the turn before the crash/error. The turn before can be found in the folder labeled "backup 1" (or something similar).

Hope this helps.

I am going through some activation bullshit with winzip so can't get the save but here is the log from another crash. I will get the save up asap.
Tell me if you can see the problem.

Having the same issue as the OP, different games have been crashing in late '61. Sometimes i could resume, after restarting the game. This last time I couldnt.

Hopefully someone can find out why it's crashing for me.

Another game, another crash.

Is more information needed? Will gladly provide.

About this one, this is because you are using in-game compression, please disable it (Options menu, system tab) and then revert one turn back.

This one reports nothing special. I would need your saved game wrapped up in a zip archive (this is a menu in Windows, all Windows support zip format innately since Vista)

Not the same error, but I need the saved game here. I believe this is a problem in the AI, I can fix it for you in your saved game even if the new patch is weeks away.

Hi Pocus,

Thanks for the reply. Currently I am fiddling around a bit with CWII which means a lot of restarting the Grand Campaign, so I have many savegames which I can't distinguish between :(

If I have another crash, I'll keep the savegame seperately and zipped so i can post here!

Hi guys, thanks for all the help so far. After the steps you have suggested I have had another crash (probably reversible) but here is the log if you can get anything out of it.

That's some nasty ones and I'm 99% sure it comes from a memory problem (or more precisely how the game directx library handle it). That you have a powerful video card or a cheap chipset won't change the fix, you'll probably need to tone down the settings in the Options window, System tab. I would start by reducing memory usage to 25% and disable big textures.

Ok, thank you for the help. I reduced the texture previously and I will try to reduce the memory usage.

This is an error left in the AI in 1.03, a few people might get it although it seems most of you won't. I'll see if I can produce a semi official quickfix Monday. Sorry for the trouble.

I have experienced these types of crashes fairly frequently, as well. Have posted logs, etc. in the past. They persist. A QF would be appreciated!!

If you can get the copies of the generals in the bloody road south campaigns removed that'd be fantastic as well!

Will try to add that too in the QF. Again, it will be 'semi official', i.e even if it originates from me, it has not been approved by the QA at Matrix so will only be proposed here in the Help Improve CW2 forum. It will also need 1.03.

I have tried monkeying around with the memory usage and although it makes no sense to me reducing memory allowance does solve the memory problem, thanks :) There are still very occasional crashes, but the file recovers now and I could play a game through.

Hi Pocus, I was able to resume and play for a few more turns until i gpt the next critical error. Can you see if it is the same one?

I believe you have activated replay? Disable it in this case.

Quick fix should not be long, perhaps Friday.

I was not aware I had activated it, but if so: i could resume the game later on anyway, so it wasn't a gamestopping crash. Just reporting so you'll be able to get the game even more stable.

Just one more possible bug to inspect in the game and QF should be out. So not today, sorry.
