Cursor or drag issue?

Problem started previous turn, difficulty closing Battle Planner. On this turn cannot capture and drag units (in some cases can drag one region, but cannot undo if I want to change move), and have difficulty reorganizing units within a region. Also cannot drag decision cards such as demonstrations on to map. Other functionality appears OK. Ran the turn without making any moves except to buy replacements, turn ran OK including closing Battle Planner but for next turn still could not drag units or cards, or reorganize units.

Unable to load saved files, get 'Invalid File' message.

Tried new game, same results. Also noted in old and new game cannot drag from recruitment mode onto map. Changed to full debug so got better log data this time.

Hello,

Sorry for the troubles. Can you try the 1.02 public beta patch in 'Help Improve CW2', it fixes several troubles and can also detect better corrupted games.

Problem persists

Since I had some functionality assumed this was a software issue. Have changed mouse and now have full functionality! Still confuses me how mouse cursor could function generally but could not drag and drop, but technology obviously is not my strong suit. Sorry for any trouble this caused you. Thanks for prompt response. Disregard text below.

Installed 1.02 as suggested. Appears to be full functionality except still unable to drag from recruitment and decision modes or grab and drag land and naval units (Beauregard can't attack Sumter, his individual units can't move away from stack - but can split from stack into separate units, which then can't recombine). Very odd. Hope you have a fix!

We had on occasions people having trouble with drag&drop, and this was because frame rate (refreshment rate) was too low. Perhaps you are in a very high resolution but not with a super powerful computer. Can you post your DxDiag file please?

I see you are using a basic video chipset and not a true video card, the dedicated memory might be a problem here, as I'm unsure the DirectX library we use is able to use correctly shared memory. See your specs, there is only 64 mb of dedicated memory.
Display Memory: 1696 MB
Dedicated Memory: 64 MB
Shared Memory: 1632 MB

That's a pity, because otherwise your computer seems quite powerful. So perhaps the problem is here, can you please go to the Main Menu, Options button, System tab, then activate error logging? You'll see a red rectangle appearing.

Then, go to a game, and standing still, can you give the FPS counter you see in the rectangle? You should be at 25. If under, there this is the issue with drag&drop or the mouse being non responsive enough. This will be even worse if you zoom out or scroll the map.

25 FPS when I started up at stand still as you requested, and consistently 25 FPS while I prepared my turn. When I went to run it dropped to about 11 FPS on Day 1, then to a range of 1 to 3 FPS up to Day 15. When I got the Ready for Next Turn message it went back to 25 FPS. Is this normal during run? The figure for ms next to FPS fluctuated around 11 or so while I prepared the turn, during run dropped much lower. I'm convinced my problem was the mouse as I've had no issues since it was replaced. Hope this info helps.

ok, good to know. Yes that's normal FPS crumble when you process the turn, no worry here :)
