Hi B&T,

These look really good! What program are you using for the colorization? I found with the old AACW that I could get a decent enough approximation of the more stylized portraits in that game, but I struggled with the more detailed, more life-like ones in CW2. These are pretty close!

Thanks! :)

They're not exactly 'top of the range' but I'm certainly not unhappy with them. Not every photo scrubs up that well though, and they need the touch of someone with far greater skill and experience than I possess - as I possess not one iota! That's why I got in touch with a guy who does quite excellent colourisations and hopefully he can provide even better versions of these pictures you see here, and many more besides, for a mod that is being discussed. If not then these will have to do ;)

Honestly I think these are pretty good. If you remove the backgrounds they will look even closer to what we have in-game and will pop out a lot more.

I think they're great. They're not going to look 1:1 identical to the ones already in the base-game, those are slightly more stylized. But I don't think it matters honestly, these will fit in fine.

I think they look really good as well! You've clearly put a lot of work into this - I'm excited to see more of this mod.

The only constructive criticism I could offer - and it's by no means anything major, just if you want to refine further - would be that some of the CSA Officers still have a background (William Starke and William E. Jones), I definitely think it looks cleaner if you can remove it. The icing on the cake would be to try to get a similar "shot" of each leader in terms of how much of the body is showing and the size of the head, but obviously that depends on what you have to work with.

But like I said, those are very minor things, I think you've done an amazing job!

Hi mate! Thanks for getting back to me!

It was a lot of work, as what you're seeing here is less than 50% of the generals and admirals that will be added, but as much work as it was, it was very satisfying work to say the least. Particularly when I was able to see them actually added to the game!
Bear in mind that there's still an 1863, 1864 and 1865 generals pool (obviously not including those generals already within the game) that you have yet to see, and which I might just hold back as a bit of a teaser ;)

Regarding generals Stake and W.E. Jones; try as I might to completely remove the background, the lighter background colour in the original image combined with the lighter tones of the Confederate uniform made removing all of the background sometimes nearly impossible without also taking most of the uniform, and sometimes part of the generals head with it. In other words; if the background blended in too closely with the foreground, the more difficult the background removal was. So sometimes, it was a matter of doing the best with what I had and close enough had to be good enough. As it is though, I'm pretty happy with it :)

I couldn't have done any of it without @Altaris though. The man is a godsend.

But yeah, again, thank you sincerely for the feedback. I'm thrilled! Stay tuned! :)
