I'd really like to play with tripax' unit renaming mod and if I buy the game through Steam I'm quite sure that I won't be able to play with anything else than version 1.06
As I understand, Tripax mod is broken in the version of the game so I'd like to buy a download version of the original game and then only run the patch update to 1.04

Is this possible?

Are there any other mods working with 1.06 that does what Tripax mod was trying to do?

I've been playing with the thought of buying the game and start modding it myself but looking at the files in Tripax mod it seems a little overwhelming :-)

Installing mods from steam purchased games should work fine, right? The game folders are in the steam/steamapps folder, and everything can be done from there.

Yes installing mods work fine from Steam but I wouldn't be able to decide which patchlevel to use (it would automatically upgrade to the latest patch)
Therefor your mod would be impossible to run with the game installed through Steam.

I managed to get a copy from Matrix Games so I'm alright now :-)

FYI, Steam should have the same patch level as the latest Ageod official patches.
