Modding Scenarios

Thu Jan 14, 2016 7:12 am

I was able to mod the events for CSA easily to fix the Price has a force that looks more like 1864 in 1861. I was able to make the force MSG and found an error where one should have been a CSA_VOL_bde with only 2 elements instead of a CSA_VOL_AR. However, those events don't fire if you start in late July and the late July campaign has Price ahistorically in Jefferson City when he should be in Carthage since the battle happened around that time. JO Shelby and MS Thompson are also missing since they come by event earlier in 1861 but aren't in the scenario file.

Can anyone point me to a resource on how to mod the scn file? The event file was very close to paradox games so it was easy for me to figure out. The scn file makes absolutely no sense to me.

I don't know of a tutorial to mod the scenario files directly, but I never pursued it that long. It's much, much, much easier to back up the original scenario, and then recompile it using the scripts that ship with the game. I've recreated scenarios so often now that it seems simple, but if you haven't done it before it might be a little daunting. Below are links to two resources.

If you are just trying to incorporate changes to some events that fall outside the script that was used to create the scenario, I don't *think* you have to recreate the scenario. However, I would just to be sure.
