Wow! That looks fantastic. Great job :w00t:

How hard was it to learn colorizing? You did very well. If it's not super hard, I'll give it a shot too.

Here's what I have for today.

Found a color pic for general Abercrombie, who I posted in B/W earlier.

I found this on the Net ...

http://www.colorizephoto.com/

Very easy for beginners (me),
but I presume the art is hard to master :)

That's a fantastic link, thanks! I think I can use that. Will try a pic soon and post the results.

Thanks for your research and collection, makes me study more generals on wiki.

Do the game include Meriwether Jeff Thompson ?

I can try another if you tell me who you want.

Very nice work as usual!

The game does include Thompson, he's in the initial set of 1861 Divisional Generals the South gets so it's great to get his pic.

As to what next, I'd really only have one major request, I'd like to have a better colorized pic of Jacob Cox than the one I posted last page with the writing on it.

I think he's probably the most important general on either side without a decent color pic at this point. Problem is it's hard to find a good quality source pic of him while he's wearing his uniform. There are several of him in civilian clothes though. I'd say this pic might be the best bet to use as a base.

It might also be possible to take his head from a good pic like this or even from what I posted last page and merge it with one of the uniforms of the guys who are already in game.

I guess I also wouldn't mind a colorized John C. Robinson pic.

btw, I'm working on modding in some of the better generals missing from the game. Have added 30 new Union generals so far, haven't worked on the Confederates yet. So there will be more pics to choose from there, though a fair amount of the guys already have colorized pics available on the net that I'll post later.

You're right about Cox. But maybe he's like me, only too red in his face? ;)

Robinson was hard to do, pics with no colour white face is hard to bring to life.
Think I've come to a definite carriere limiting step concerning my colouring, sorry :mdr:

Looks great to me! Really fantastic! Absolutely no apologies needed.

Here's an army pic for Robinson, and I cleaned up a bit of the white around the edges as well. Didn't get it all, but it's a bit better, I think.

On Cox I don't mind the red face.

I was thinking more that I just don't like that pic at all, because it's the wrong size. It's way too big in that version so looks terrible in game, but when I tried to make a better sized version, more zoomed out to match the rest of the pics in the game I ran up against the fact that the original had writing on it as you see below.

Was wondering if you could work with a different picture that you could properly size?

Maybe he's too old. Should be in his mid-thirties during the war.

I actually played around with the pic a bit and managed to get his hair a bit darker and looking bit younger.

Here's another try. Can't really get it brown, just black, but I think it's still better...

This is amazing stuff. Do you think someone is going to come up with a complete mod on this? I am especially interested in changing the "clone generals" but I don't know how to do it.

Much appreciated!

I might do a full mod, I've been working on one, but I have too much going on, so can't promise on anything. I've finished most of a mod that adds hundreds of missing Union generals in game , but still need to work on the Confederates and also create pics. This is a lot of work, and I have too much going on to be able to commit to doing any specific amount of work. I'll work on it as I can and as the spirit moves me. Sorry not to be more encouraging, but that's where I'm at for now.

Well I commend you for your efforts. By complete mod I just meant a pack of usable files, I know it takes soooo long to do all this. Are there current files you have that can be used? Have you replaced any of the clones? Thank you for your passion!

I would be so excited to use what you have, especially if you changed some of the clone generals!

I would also be happy to assist you in completing your mod if you know where or how I can study up on how to do it.

Sounds great, I will keep checking back here to see what you have to say, in the meantime I will study up in what you are doing and see if I can make any sense of it.

So these files will replace some of the clone Generals?

Thank you so much for your collaboration, all of you.
