Heavy artillery

The heavy artillery - better place in or outside a city?

I always place coastal arty outside. I think they don't fire at ships unless they're outside.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

At least in other games they do fire on ships while inside a city/fort. No idea for Espãna as I haven't had any combat yet involving the few coastal artillery (2 nationalist and 1 republican). Personally I tend to place them inside structures as that way they will not be drawn into regular (non assault) land combat for which they are not equipped...

Be careful about moving big guns that were placed inside the fort at the scenario setup if you intend them to fire on enemy ships. In another game (WiA) I moved the big guns outside the Louisbourg fort. It was never right again--it never fired on passing enemy ships after that.
