Artillery Only Units

Mon Nov 15, 2021 7:48 pm

I think I've seen where an artillery only unit/division always attacks the strongest opposing unit first with a first strike. In that case, does that unit need to be in its own stack, or can it be bundled into other stacks and keep that advantage?

The target selection mechanics are a bit involved, but you want to put an arty only division in a stack with line units. Otherwise an enemy stack could target your arty only stack, which would be a bad day for the gunners.

If it's on the topic. The largest enemy unit is always selected first as the target. Regardless of whether you are attacking with infantry or artillery.
