Hits from winter weather outside of friendly structure?

Tue Jan 03, 2017 6:51 am

I guess I misinterpret something here but just to make sure, will forces outside of a friendly structure take hits from weather in harsh winter weather(snow, deep cold, etc.?

I think there just has to be a friendly structure in their region, they don't have to actually be inside it.

If there is no friendly structure they will take hits, although IIRC wagons will trade some of their supply for hits to protect troops until the wagon has no more supplies.

Yes being out (if the structure is not hostile) or in does the same, to reduce MM.

It is possible to take hits even in a region with a structure if you use historical attrition + get very foul weather

Also, IIRC, having entrenchment level 3 or 5 and above will alleviate some attrition when not inside a structure. but if weather gets really bad, you had better put your stack inside the structure, and always Always ALWAYS insure they have sufficient supplies. Supplies will be traded for some cohesion loss and hits through attrition.

Can the posture of the stack(offensive/defensive) have impact on what is suffered by weather?
And as attrition is mentioned, does the posture have impact on hits taken by attrition?

Well, kind of. I'm not sure about attrition directly, but I know that cohesion loss and recovery are calculated daily, and that a unit in DP (Defensive Posture) recovers more cohesion daily than one in OP (Offensive Posture). So if your unit is losing cohesion through weather, it will recover much quicker each day if in DP.
