A "Champions' League"-edition?

(Since I'm pretty sure that isn't the "CL" you're talking about, forgive my ignorance and feel free to enlighten me :) )

CL - Collectors Edition. The shop shows Download and Boxed editions with a CL icon.

Assuming it is working the same as the Matrix site:
The icon beside the boxed edition option signifies which type the boxed edition is:
CL - means it's collectors editon (colour manual + disc)
ST - standard (grey manual + disc)
DX - digital (pdf manual + disc)

In this case the boxed version appears to be a collectors edition boxed version
(I'm just assuming by the way)

Yes the boxed edition is a collectors edition. You get a full colour manual, personalised disk with your name and serial printed on it, full colour DVD box.

You also get to download the game immediately and don't have to wait. Nobody else does this - we are the only people letting you get the best of both worlds!

It is a completely unique and awesome service :)
