Wait, are we talking about the first beta round or when the game is released? Because I can tell you it won't be released before several weeks at the very least!

beta version, with download link, is imminent, for people who registered at Slitherine. For alpha testers (aka Think Tank), there is no need for that though, although it is better to get registered at Slitherine if there is a need for a NDA signing down the road.

When do you think Slitherine will notify the people they've chosen for beta testing?

Darn. I'm in training this week at work and then off for a week of vacation with the family in Florida. My luck I will be chosen and would't be able to help until 2 weeks down the road.
On the good side of that maybe all you comrade Betas will have stamped out all the bugs and I can concentrate on playing...lol.

On a side note. Will the betas be asked to concentrate on certain areas? Like so many doing video or display settings and some doing option checking to make sure they work, etc.. I did this in a previous Beta and it streamlined the process.

Beta volunteers can't be forced to test a particular area of the game, although if we need to focus on some feature and you are ok testing it exclusively, this is much better for the team.

Beta approval is under way right now and you should receive an invitation any time.

I received the invitation from Slitherine, telling me that I have to send you a PM, but I can't access the web page indicated in the Slitherine mail nor send any PMs here (I don't see any PM button on this forum). What do you suggest?

I forget what the minimum number of posts are before you can send pms. It may be only 10.

But I am sure he will see it here.

Likewise. I have received the invitation from Slitherine however I am unable to PM and complete the instructions. Could this be due to the spam blocking policy and us being new members to these particular forums?

In the Email right click on the link to PM and select open in new tab, always works for me when links in the message of the email don't work

Thanks. Even I do not have 10 posts, I am registered here long enough so it is little bit weird that I can not send PMs.

Since this thread has served it's purpose I see no problem with some of you guys posting
a few off topic notes, perhaps your hopes and dreams for the new game, just so you can
get past that #posts threashold. I don't supposed the mods will either.

On another note - YEEEHAAA! PM sent!

Well I hope when AGEOD is now with Matrix/Slitherine that there will be server for multiplayer like in War in the East. The system in ACW I is not very user friendly.

Its not multiplayer friendly because of it's design. Given how turns take a long time
to plot and to plan the nature of the game isn't designed for multiplayer. You
would need a system like March of the Eagles, and that would change ACW2 a lot!
ACW isn't a beer and pretzels game, it's a wargamer's game and that's why the
steep learning curve yet devoted fan base. This is a good game for PBEM (Play
By EMail).

Neither is War in the East or War in the Pacific(however only PBEM here too).

I do not see reason why WEGO system have to be incompatible with server based multiplayer.

Hi Philippe, I signed up at Slitherine as hobbesACW. Happy to take a look but I won't be able to do much due to AJE scenario. There are a few things I could check though - especially around coastal forts (spent ages trying to get that to work well but had to give up in the end).

Cheers,
Chris

Newbie here. Signed up for the beta but, as of yet, no email :( How big is the scope of the beta? Will there be a lot of shut-outs?

I think there are groups coming on every two weeks. It is a matter of wait and see.
