this is to report the problem that was discussed in this thread on the main board. I'm playing SP/Italy with the historic SOI options and when the German Tangynyka event fired I found I couldn't enter a number of provinces, despite them still being an Italian protectorate, having MC and reasonable (>40) CP.

Having dug deep into the save files, I've found that all the provinces affected by the Tangynyka event are duplicated, a typical instance is Dar es Salaam (#685). It appears in one list with the various Italian buildings I put up over time and in the other with the German buildings created by event.

I no longer have an 1884 save so I can't go back to before this happened. I think the problem is in how the event interacted with another European power in the region as I only noticed it when I tried to move a unit (all the flags etc remain Italian), but it may be due to my attempts to write a script to unpick the situation. The problem is that we can only see the problem, but won't be able to find the cause as we don't have enough turns history. If you know what are the regions duplicated, then you can delete the duplicates in the HST file, unless you have dozens.

I'll try that, its about 8-10 provinces and I know what I'm looking for.

would help to upload the 3 sets of saved turns? Problem is I think this happened before my current set of backupst

Just to say, deleting the duplicates from both the hst and the trn file has solved the problem - many thanks for all the input and support.
