On the Caesar captures Sicily event

Sun Sep 23, 2012 10:05 pm

During June 49 I moved Cato out from Sicily, as I had transported African troops there and they were coming from another direction towards Rhegium. Imagine my surprise when the next turn began and Caesar received all of Sicily! They didn't even have battle ready troops there, as I had just beaten a cavalry force with the African legion. Not fair :(

Side effect of the event; historically, Cato departure from Sicily was considered as an abandonment by the locals, who eagerly joined Caesar....so it's WAD, even if in this case it is weird.

Not fair, but WAD.

If Cato leaves, Sicily will be anexed by Caesar, kind of Strategic choice

Ok, Cato leaves and Caesar receives the island. But in this case I was actually attacking with him (checking my first post, I didn't clearly state this), towards Rhegium. That's really not abandoning the island, is it?

Once Cato leaves, Sicily is lost. If he goes back, too bad.

But to confirm everything is WAD, could you provide your ScritReports, please ?

Can't see anything relating to that event in my script reports, I've played quite many turns beyond that.

To beat a dead horse, would the Sicily surrender event still happen if say the Caesarian AI had left it alone for a year, I'd then bring 4 legions to the island, put them under Cato's command, and march them to besiege Rhegium? If so, then that seems very illogical.

Is there a deadline when the event has not effect, I mean, when Cato can leave and Sicily remains in Pompeius' side?

No, at the moment it's permanent. We'll see in next patch if there is a deadline to enforce

Please add it! Maybe make Cato locked for that duration?

Same reason as for Spain: locking Cato makes him doomed for sure against an active Caesar player...this was a balanced Beta decision. Now we can end the event after 6 months if Caesar has not grabbed Sicily by then
