1st Punic War - Corvus event not firing

Tue Apr 02, 2013 4:03 am

I am playing the Romans in 1st Punic War. The Corvus event appeared and once I had enough engagement points (17) and money (over 600 k) I tried to enable it. No dice. Three straight months and it is not firing even though I am picking it. The engagement points and money are not taken out of the account. Not sure what the problem is. I can send the files to whomever wishes to check this. Anyone else have this problem?

Hi

Can you post the contents of your scripts folder and/or a save (and backup) of a turn where this problem exists ?

Thanks and regards

Edit: This option to work needs Caius Duilius in game as Consul. Was it the case ? If so, this option will be disappear if not taken when Duilius is no longer consul

Ah - I think we have the problem then. I did not have enough engagement points to do the event when Caius Duilus was Consul. The year passed and new Consuls emerged. I tried to trigger the event then and it did not trigger. It remained there as an option, but did not trigger.

So this only happens the year he appears or not ever? And I assume you need the two naval bases developed by then as well? I noticed when I ran this against the AI it triggered all right and the corvus-equipped quinquiremes appeared at Volsini.

This event needs some in-game documentation or at least a tweak to the options panel. I had no idea from reading the event I needed to take it while X was consul. I have no idea whether there are any other prerequisites. Or the event needs to persist even when Duilus has left his consulship. I assume an innovation he introduced would outlast his consulship?

Currently the option is dependent on Duilius being in game (and will be turned off when he is no longer consul in the next patch, now it does not indeed, sorry). Also dependent on Rome having Quinqueremis already.

The conditions can be changed but that is a designer decision (ElNino, PhilThib)

The text can perhaps be a little improved, indeed
