Germanic Cavalry movement bug?

Hi there, I am playing a pbem game as Pompey, I have a force which I was trying to move from Consabura to Libisosa in Spain, its raining in both regions...

The force I am trying to move is some Germanic cavalry, it says that it is going to take this unit 23 days to move to Libisosa, yet any other unit in my army be it Infantry or Roman cavalry can move to the same region in around 7 to 10 days...

Am I missing something or is it a bug?

I have attached pictures and my save files...

As you can see there is a big difference in the amount of time the 2 units take to move into the same region... yet they both have a speed coefficient of 100, both have the medium cavalry movement type and both have close to full cohesion..

No, bug but WAD.

Germanic cav, like other units have "home area" penalties, defined (and moddable) in the file Gamelogic.opt (in the settings subfolder of the AJE folder):

areaOutsideHomeAbi = -1 // -1 level to abies (can render them inactive)
areaOutsideHomeStr = -2 // Strategic
areaOutsideHomeOff = -2 // Offensive
areaOutsideHomeDef = -1 // Defensive
areaOutsideHomeTQ = -3 // TQ (and 5 time that to max cohesion)
areaOutsideHomeMR =[color="#FF0000"] 33 // Move Ratio Coeff (x0.33)[/color]
cohLocalAreaBonus = 10 // bonus to max cohesion if at home


As you see, this move penaltie decrease to 1/3 the move ratio if the unit is outside her home area.
Unfortunately the player does not have (yet) a good feedback of these penalties

If you want to change this, just open this file in notepad, put the number you wish (e.g., 100 means no move penaltie - that's how I usually play...), save and play on.

Ahh ok... I cant really mod it as I am playing quite a few pbem's and it would no doubt cause problems....

Just as long as there is a reasonable explanation I am happy :thumbsup:

Maybe at some time in the future ageod could add an ability icon to let the player know that there are certain penalties on units if they stray out of there homelands...
