If I leave laptop for twenty minutes while playing AJE (and some other games) it won't start up from idle back to the game and gives this sort of message.

The only advantage is that I can exit a losing situation this way with at least some honour, but I would rather it didn't happen if possible !

That is an old and relatively rare bug, reported since BOA times, without solution, apparently...

It can occur spontaneously, more or less randomly, but in certain cases it appears linked to having a screensaver active. In others it can occur while scrolling the map (not reported in AJE, that I know of)

I sugest that if you are playing and leave your computer idle, try to disable your screensaver.
