Newbie questions - leaders

Sat Apr 12, 2014 3:52 pm

I'm new to the game and playing the Year of the Four Emperors scenarios.

I'm wondering about the differences between leader types. One the one hand there are leaders who appear on the right hand side of the screen. On the other hand, there are helmeted generals that you can break off and create new stacks with, but they don't show up on that list of leaders on the right hand side of the screen. That makes me think the helmetless leaders are more important. Is it best to keep your forces under the main helmetless leaders? I'm guessing no. Why are only those leaders in the panel on the right? Finally, is there an easy way to keep track of all your stacks? It's easy to remember those that show up in the righthand side, but easy to forget about others.

IIRC, the leaders on the right side of your screen are army leaders. So basically senior leaders that can control the largest concentrations of troops. You use those senior army commanders for you major armies and for your primary goals.

You can use the F1 ledger to review all your forces. Once you have played a few turns, you won't need the ledger because you will know where all your troops are at and their objectives. Although it doesn't hurt to check the ledger from time to time just as a doublecheck. And I often use the lock key in the F1 ledger to ignore garrisons and small unimportant forces.
