Congratulations on a great game, and some questions.

I have recently purchased AJE and BOR and am enjoying them immensely. Its nice to find a game with some real depth, harking back to some good old fashioned war gaming where game play is the key and focuses on providing the players with real choices and dilemmas. Well done! I already have NCP and AAWC and I think that AJE is more enjoyable than either.

One thing that strikes me though is a lack of a complete campaign scenario. It would be nice to be able to play throughout the entire time period rather than have it broken up into individual scenarios or rather the option to play a grand campaign alongside individual scenarios. This brings me to the second question, I understand that other scenarios have been released as DLC but the BOR was released as a stand alone game. Will any future expansions go down the DLC or stand alone route? Finally what other theaters can we expect to see?

Thanks again on a great franchise!

A much longer campaign, with (proper) politics and diplomacy added, would be great!

BOR was released as an independent game, but now it can also play all installed AJE scenario's, so it effectively became an expansion for AJE, but without the necessity to first buy AJE. This seems to be the best of all possibilities.

Yes I realise that (I have them both ;) ) But it seems odd to release essentially what is an identical stand alone game albiet with different scenarios. Hence the question whether further Scenarios will take the form of another stand alone game or DLC.

Mod?

A mod that does such would be great, although a official expansion would be also welcomed.

Yes I also would like to have more real "campaigns" spreading over the whole map, not being locked in a small part of this wonderful designed map!

Many thanks for your mail about AJE and BOR ! :coeurs:

I know that many players would like to see a big campaign game, but actually, it's very hard to create. Antiquity sources are hard to find, and we must test so many different nations.

Teaser : I think it could be possible to have a big campaign game (late 2013) with 6 players. :innocent:

Having monthly turns and a grand campaign that would last for centuries doesn't sound like a very good idea. It would consume way too much time to play through. I think this engine is meant to simulate more limited military operations (which it does quite well), not empire-building on a huge scale. Making a so-called grand strategy game would require considerable changes to the current system.

I'm sure lack of sources is also a problem. Some periods of ancient history are quite well documented, but others are almost unknown to us.

If Paradox and AGEOD had a baby it would be called Rome II: Alea Jacta Est

You are most welcome! That big campaign sounds like just what im looking for! Keep the content comming, and ill buy it! :D

Thats the idea! A campaign that would take ages to play though. I know I for one would love to do this in SP, and I think a couple of friends would be intrested in MP too. RTW Vanilla has the same timescale and that was popular enough in its day. And thats the thing, having the tag line "Rule Rome from its beginings and forge it into a mighty empire!" has serious bragging rights.

I take the point though that filling in the undocumented gaps in history might be tricky, but then again for such a campaign its really up to the player to rewrite history anyway, so as long as the major events where scripted just make it up as you go along.

I can today just say that it's not the next expansion, and Rome will be one of the six players. :sherlock:

It must be a big thematic extension. We hope in the middle 2013...

Is it still Roman or non-Roman focused?

Still Roman AND a specific theater with a non roman faction. :)

This was specified on one official page, with the choice between Britons, Parthians or Dacians...

And we make what we said... Some of players baught Proconsul or Praetors versions of AJE...

Six players including Rome sounds cool. To me it sounds like the Barbarian Invasion timeframe. Rome, Vandals, Britons, Goths, Franks, Byzantine or some other combination. I don't know how Dacia would work into a 6 player game nor do I see how Sassanid/Parthia would. Wait... Sassanids could work if it was during the division of Rome, Gaul, and Palmyra, plus two Barbarians....
