I was wondering how much of a bonus does the AI receive if I select the Medium Detection Bonus for the AI as is recommended. Does the AI basically get to see behind my fog of war, or does it just have more detection when my units are visible by his units? I would hate for my units' evasion/hidden values to just be null because of this AI bonus. Though I also don't want to have a very bad AI performance in my games.

I have to say that I turned off AI detection bonus in the beginning as I'm just in the learning phase of the game. Haven't seen "bad" AI behaviour since playing AJE. Congrats to the dev's as I think the AI handles the game very well! Just my thoughts though ...

I seem to remember that the detection value is not increased, but it "spreads" further (say - two regions away) and once detected the AI has more information. I may be wrong, though.

Out of curiosity I started a new game without any AI detection bonus. So far I've seen no loss in the AI abilities to out fox me, it hasn't done anything stupid & whats more the AI even sends single cavalry units to scout the strength of my main force. I'm very impressed!
