3-player PBEM question

Wed Oct 09, 2013 9:38 pm

I'm trying to organize a 3-way PBEM match of AJE's Mithridatic War scenario. Is there a description somewhere of the PBEM sequence used in 3-party games? The manual describes only a 2-player PBEM sequence.

Thanks!

Tim

basically its the same but a bit more fiddly for the host as you need to bundle up the various .ord files with the .hst file for each player. I tend to zip it all using 7z and lable each as to the faction and put them in a drop box file. Depends on your group, you can use a single dropbox and an honour system (don't open the other files) or create a separate one for each player. It takes a little longer and its worth double checking you haven't put the wrong thing in the wrong bundle, but in essence its the same as for 1-1
AJE The Hero, The Traitor and The Barbarian
PoN Manufacturing Italy; A clear bright sun
RoP The Mightiest Empires Fall
WIA Burning down the Houses; Wars in America; The Tea Wars

I played a 3 player where all .trn and .ord files were placed in the same dropbox folder. Each player took their .trn file, and added their .ord file. We switched hosting duties to ensure no one got an advantage. The host from the previous turn added their .ord first, and the host for the next turn added theirs last.

As loki100 says, it's a honor system thing.

While both loki100 and Jim-NC describe some ways to to 3 player, there is another way:
Start the game and hit save.
Then send the trn files to your opponents
When they make their moves, they send you back their ord files
You execute the turn.

Then you send them trn and replay files.

And so on.

It is the same as two player, just more files. With AJE, you need to turn on the replay function to get these files.

that is, you do not need to do dropbox, just sending the files or zipping the files is also fine.
