How many turns before foray/s take place after selecting the icon?

Than you for prompt reply and sorry for my lack of clarity.

I have city under siege. When viewing leader icon there is an option to "prepare for foray".
"Prepare": I take it to mean that the foray will take place. But when? Is there an indication?

This icon means that your stack is trying to go out the Structure.

The prepare to foray text was displayed in a ToolTip ?

Thank you for reporting

This is the special order "Exit Structure" (a.k.a. Sortie from City) :D ... this order will be executed immediately on the turn hosting following your giving it to the stack. Sometimes however, the engine decides it is not "safe" to do so and the units do not sortie........my advice is that it is sometimes simpler to check the order AND take the whole stack and place it in the region anywhere outside of the city

Hi!
Unless there has been some change in the sortie button on AJE, it only works when an outside friendly force tries to lift the siege attacking the besiegers
In this case, the button will make the garrison join any battle outside the structure and help the relief force instead of just looking from inside the city

If you just want to order a sortie with the garrison (there is no relief force on the way), do as PhilThib says and just drag and drop the garrison outside the structure in the same region on offensive posture.
At least that's how it worked for me in other AGEOD games. :)
Cheers

Will let you know result.

My pbem opponent/s - close your eyes ;)
