Help : Yudenich OOB

Sun Feb 27, 2011 8:00 pm

Hello,

to improve RUS, we need the help of anybody that could provide us a precise Yudenich Army OOB (at least a better than the one we already have) and location for his 1919 offensive on Petrograd :)

Any volunteer ?

I'll make a try. It may take me a pair of days to compare the data in different sources I can find.

Hi. I have decided to post the first part of OOB here just to show you that I am working hard. :)

See attached the graphic scheme of the October offensive which shows the initial deployment of the troops. Its inscriptions are in Estonian language but I hope it’s better than Cyrillic letters. White Russians are drawn purple, Estonians – blue. http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%A4%D0%B0%D0%B9%D0%BB:Skeem_nr_24.jpg

Please note the rail link between Pskov and Narva which goes along the Peipus shore via Gdov region. This rail which is vital for military operations in the region is missing in RUS.

I’ll try to finish the job as soon as I can.

NORTHWEST ARMY

Hi Seb.

I should add that the model used in RUS for NW infantry units icon (the one in German uniform and helmet) is fully applicable only to NW units equipped by the Germans (5th division and Baltic regiment).

Others wore Russian and British uniforms (by October 1919 British deliveries were distributed mostly among staff, special and rear units of the Army) or mixed variants of Russian, German and even French uniforms. See attached pictures.

So I'd suggest to use some of existing generic White infantry models for the majority of NW infantry regiments.

I have to correct erroneous data about NW aviation which I posted previously.

According to excellent research of M. Khayrullin and V. Kondratiev "Voenlety pogybshey imperii. Aviatzia v grazhdanskoy voine" ("Airmen of perished Empire. Aviation in Civil War") by October 1919 NW Army aviation detachment included 6 combat-ready multipurpose two-seat RAF R.E.8 airplanes delivered by British. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Aircraft_Factory_R.E.8These planes took part in the offensive bombing and strafing red troops.

In addition there were some planes of different types in bad technical condition evacuated by 5th (Lieven) division from Latvia.

Good luck with upcoming patch. :)
