More bugs?

Mon Nov 29, 2010 3:28 am

I have encountered four features that might be bugged (or hopefully somebody can tell me I am wrong here):

1) Mannerheim as army commander: I am not able to create an army with Mannerheim as commander. Since he is the highest ranked commander the Southern White has that means NM penalties if I create an army with somebody else.
According to the tooltip you need an Army HQ, but you cannot build them in RUS! Building the Finish HQ replacement doesn't help, either.

2) Several recurring economic options don't work the second time around (i.e. in 1919):
- Decree partial mobilization (Red and Southern White)
- Recruit prisioners (Red and Southern White)
- Recruit DON Cossack general (that one has already been reported, I never receive them)
- Red cossacks recruited (Red, obviously)
- Restore Red Airforce
- Party Members join Army
This is really annoying since is further cripples the ressource supply. As concerns the Sibirian White, I have no idea (haven't had time to play that side long enough).

3) Replacement system: The Southern White periodically looses access to some of his subfactions: North-Western Whites (on rare occasions I can buy replacements most of the time that faction doesn't even appear on the replacement screen), Germans dissappear sometimes from the menu. I had the French dissappear for a few turns in 1918 once. And yes, I am aware that there are arrows to scroll through the subfactions. :)
On the other hand, some replacement options are useless: from mid summer 1919, the Southern White can train Komush replacements. Vice-versa, the Siberian White is able to train Southern White replacements.

4) In early August 1918: the third Japanese division arrives in the Far East according to an event message, however no troops appear. I looked up the event script ("evt_nam_Renforts_CMN_JapaneseInterventionB"); if I read it right, it is part of a cascade of three events that should remove red troops from Bikin and spawn the Japanese division instead. Can't find the error.

5) The last one is a question, not a possible bug: What exactly does the "Recognize Independances" diplomatic option do for the Southern White. I once tried it out but didn't gain anything during the next few turns. Is that huge NM hit worth anything?

Edit: Should have clarified, I am playing the Grand Campaign.

Perhaps you can't pay the cost of buying those options?! IIRC you need to pay some five or ten engagement points for nearly every mobilization or economical option you choose. IIRC the interface as it is now lets you book those options even if you can't afford them. So next turn you discover it just didn't work.

What I also find irritating is that the partial mobilization graphically is represented twice, on two different pages in the same submenu. But it's actually only one option. Maybe this has something to do with turning page?!

I can't quite remember how the setting is done but if Mannerheim arrived as a combined unit (i.e. division like), you need to break it up and then you can use it as a new army leader.

If that is the case, please tell me, we will get that corrected. :)

Sorry, but I wouldn't have posted it if it had been that easy. I actually saved up enough money (and EPs never are a problem after the first five or six rounds).

No Mannerheim arrives solo. I can even make him corps commander.

There must be different explanations in both cases. But thank you both, anyways.

The other option could be there is a limit on the number of army you can create and you already have reached it. Have you try demoting a general to promote Mannerheim ?

I am able to promote any other three star general to army command. No problem with the army number limit.

But please of all the problems I reported, this one is by far the least annoying. Working economic options are a lot more important.

I know quoting myself. :bonk: But I just made a very strange discovery: The reason the Siberian White gets Southern White replacements is that some of his troops are actually Southern White (in particular his whole artillery).
I presume that was done to keep the number of model files down?

Now I only need a reason why some subfactions tend to disappear from the replacement ledger once in a while and I am happy.

Yes, most artillery and other special service units (armored cars, for example) are actually "Southern Whites" even for Siberian Whites. :)

I agree with OneArmedMexican on the first 2 issues.
For Mannerheim, I noticed it too and told about it in another topic (I had an answer from Clovis if you want to check it).

For the economic options, I'm gettind a little nervous in my Southern Whites campaign: I'm hitting desperately the mobilization button to get my replacements as I am a little short of them to keep the reds away. :D
(and I have lots of engagement points).
