1.06a: it locks up and goes to main menu - this is after i've already had to shut off the winter texture b/c of prior CTD

PS: Can you post all the files of your saved game, not only the .hst file ?

there is only a Windows shortcut file...

I need what is inside your directory .../Program Files (x86)/Revolution under Siege/RUS/Saves/Grand Campaign/
like :
Grand Campaign ~RED.trn
Grand Campaign ~WH3.trn
Grand Campaign ~WHI.trn
...etc.

Pocus said it may be a problem with MS/Windows which refuse to write in Program Files repository : can you try to install the game in an other repository than C:/Program Files/ ?
Also then if you want to continue your current game, you should start from a saved game one or two turns before.

Sometimes Windows 7 (and 8?) ask you to be admin of your computer to run some program. If not, with AGE games, it don't create the Saved files.

Clic right bottom on the RUS.EXE file and run it as administrator. You can set it by default in the Settings of the file.

but halfway thru the game it would do this? i'm pretty deep in....
i'll absolutely try and get back to you
