Saving games

Sun Jun 05, 2011 3:41 pm

Hi all-

1st post. I am having a great time with the grand campaign as the Sovs. But I have had some trouble lately and was trying to go back to an earlier save. I noticed at that point that when I make a save, it does not actually make a new save file, but simply overwrites on the existing one. And this existing file gets overwritten automatically with every new turn. And if I make a new save using control and clicking save, it changes the name butt continues to save over it as I click on the end turn button.

I am used to save systems where if I click the save button it creates a distinct save and does not overwrite it. And when there is an autosave feature that is saved in an "autosave" file distinct from any saves i have made.

I noticed that an earlier Ice March game I played before patching had sequential saves from whenever I pressed the save button.

So my questions are as follows:

1) How is the save system supposed to work?
2) Can you tell me how to make distinct saves of my turns so I can go back if I make an error or get a crash, etc.
3) Did the newest patch create some problem with the save system?

Thanks,

Brian
