Reluctant to fight outside a specific theater

Mon Sep 08, 2014 12:32 pm

Hi.
In my current game, i have a lot of troops that are reluctant to fight outside a specific theater. (Such as siberian cossak do not want to fight outside siberia, or eastern do not want to fight west).

I did not manage to found what are the penalty exactly in the manual ? Maybe i missed something.

Someone know what are the penalties for moving/fighting outside the specified Area ?

Thanks for your help.
Stelteck.

For what i know those penalties don't work with the current patch. It seems it's kind of bugged and no penalty apply :bonk:
Not sure what the intended penalties were. Probably loss of cohesion or reduced stats.
When i play against the AI i refrain to move those units outside their areas at all, as it could spoilt the fun and make the game too easy.
For the southern whites for example it means leaving near half your forces ((all Cossaks) down south for defensive labors.
It makes much more interesting triying to reach Moscow that way. ;)

For now, you can use home rules if you are in PBEM : neighboring countries troops should only be able to go in the neighboring areas/sectors (the one you use for Regional Decisions) close to the borders. Not deep in Russia (e.g. Not in Central Russia theater).

Out of area penalties seem to be working for the Reds. When the anarchist units are sent outside of Ukraine, they lose all their cohesion in one turn. The Cossacks, too, if I remember correctly, pretty quickly lose their cohesion out of region, at least for the Reds.

In the original RUS, some area penalties worked and some didn't.

AFAIK discipline penalty of cossacks outside native region result they fight very ineffectively in assault phase of battle.

A good idea. It really makes your non region specific units valuable. The fact that it isn't binding makes pbem viable though.
