More Music for Revolution Under Siege

Wed May 11, 2011 2:20 am

I love the music for RUS and was thinking adding more period music as I had added more Civil War music to AACW.

I found this on amazon and feel its perfect for this game!
(I think a few songs are the same)

"Best of the Red Army Choir" :dada:

Red Army Choir recently expended repertoire even to oriental folk music to make more money in concerts :) But "Smuglianka", "Troika Galop" and especially "Let's Go" are excellent soundtracks. Fits perfecly to the "game colors" and period I think.

Dear Baris, regretfully the examples you have given do not match the definition of "period music" for RUS. These songs have nothing in commomn with RCW. "Smuglianka" for example tells the story of some pretty Moldovan girl who happened to be Soviet partizan during WWII.

Here you can find some Soviet songs which were written during RCW and/or devoted to RCW. As far as I can see they are for free download.

Nice looking site, too bad its in Russian :turc:
Which button means what?

I realize that many of these songs from the Red Army Choir are not from the period of the RCW.
But to an American like myself, they 'sound' like period music! ;)

To listen the songs from the site you should just click the name of the song (written in big red letters on the right of the page) and you will go to mp3 link.

If you wish I can give brief annotations for some "most revolutionary" songs with appropriate links. :)

Ahhh... Shame on me. Yep, it's an English version of the very same site. So the guys have done all the work already.

The revolutionary songs (some with brief annotations) are here:

Thanks a lot Krot. I was way out of target :D but they sound as that in that period :bonk: . The Russian site you gave adress has one advantage that songs can be listened without downloading. I did a quick research and there were some excellent songs especially before 1917 period. Thanks.

Leonid Utesov - By The Black Sea- that one is excellent.

and "Raskinul" is marvelous, not the time period though.

Dear Jorje. Because of the fact that you can not read Russian I'd advise you to rely on the English version of the site. It contains almost all the songs which are present in the Russian version of the site.

All of 219 revolutionary songs are grouped here. http://sovmusic.ru/english/list.php?gold=no&category=revolut

In order to listen to any song you just have to click its name and go to the page with the appropriate mp3 link which you have to click. :)

For example, the song for some reason called "Bolshevik leaves home" (its real name is Russian is "Provody" = "Send-offs") which tells about some peasant lad Vanyok (vulgar form of Russian name Ivan) who enlists into the Red Army in 1918.

Update. Good and rare song which is absent in English version of the site - "Salskaya", devoted to the Red Cossacks of the Sal Steppes (to the South of Tsaritsyn) who formed the core of partizan detachment of S.M. Budenny which later evolved into famous First Horse Army.
