Red Numbers

Sun Dec 12, 2010 11:26 pm

What do the red numbers that appear over the symbols on the replacement screen represent? Losses? Replacements needed? They really are too small to read.

They tell you how many hit points of that particular replacement element are needed. The coulour of the number and the exclamation marks make a statement on the urgency.

This is a great new feature that facilitates the management of replacements a lot.

Yes, I too thought that this was a really neat addition to the game. Wish some of these new features were retroactive, i.e for previous AGEOD titles, such as AACW and WIA. *Wish*

Yes nice new feature but not too clear...when the red number says "10!!!" it really mean 1 new replacement needed, right ? Not 10.

No. Unfortunately it is not that simple. Different elements contain a different amount of hit points.

For example:

Infantry: usually 20 hits per element
Light infantry: 15
Red Guards (Militia): 12
Artillery: 8
Tanks: 8
...

Perhaps that could be clarified in the tooltip. But still it remains a very handy innovation.

So if I see a red "20!!!" for my infantry I only need to spend 1 element ?

And If there is the same red number in front of let's say Artillery I will have to spend 2 elements to repair 16 out of the 20 points ? (If I spend 3 elements that will make 24 and 4 points will be wasted?)

Yes, that is how I understand it from the tooltip and the model files.

However, you won't loose hit points if they can't be spend immediately. Therefore, the 4 excessive hit points of artillery in your example wouldn't go to waste but simply stay in the pool.

I think that the !!! after a number mean that at least one element (of that type) is on the verge of being destroyed due to low number of men.

There is a tooltip when you pass the mouse over the small soldier icon. This is the number of missing hits in all the elements that can use this replacement. And yes, the more ! you see, the more urgent it is to do something :)
