Tue Nov 23, 2010 1:28 pm

Hi,
I have a question why is price 40 USD like 40 EUR? It is not the same price and I want buy the game in USD for all I'm in Europe. Is it possible?

Price in USD is for buyers in the USA. If you buy from Europe, you'll get VAT applied to your puchase (+20%), which explains the EUR price, as it includes the VAT

I have no idea how this works, I am in Russia, on site 'gamersgate' I can pay in USD, but on Matrix site I used to have pay in Euro, but now I noticed Matrix lists price in RUB since changing website.

I wonder if it has to do with laws and treaties and where you and server are? International purchasing of software confuses me sometimes.

Unless I'm wrong, VAT will be applied automatically, whatever the chosen currency...the same with Matrix shop either...

Yeah, those lucky Americans, with all of their inexpensive games. And here I am, like a sucker, paying expensive Canadian prices for my games, propped up by taxes going to useless things like health care...

Please note that if you are European from the EU and trying to buy in USD, the antifraud system from Nexway will refuse to proceed your order...looks like this happened to some customers today, explaining why they have not received their confirmation :(

While I'm personally happy to support AgeOD with a few extra euros, the pricing system should be reconsidered. Even with VAT added, the American version, due to the exchange rate, is cheaper. I know the Euro is strong, but no need to punish European players. Make the Americans pay more!

Stupid fluctuating exchange rates, leaving developers (with transnational customer bases) to be damned if they do and damend if they don't adapt to the fluctuations.

Adapt, i.e. let the EUR price and exchange rates govern => USD price becomes unpredictable and those buying when the USD price is high feel cheated compared to those who buy when the USD price is low. Also, people hesitate to buy, and sales suffer.

Don't adapt, and people who are "forced" to buy the game in EUR feel cheated because people buying the game in USD pay relatively less. Also, since all costs are payed in EUR, low-USD sales go shorter in covering costs than one would like to see, through no fault of anyone involved.

Personally, I'm happy I'm a mere forum admin without influence on AGEOD business decisions :cwboy:

It's possible to use this approach without using a 1:1 exhange rate, though, escpecially since the USD and the EUR have never been 1:1 (AFAIK).

Anyway, I tend to buy my games from stores that use the first approach you describe, since I otherwise feel ripped off. Usually, this is also cheaper for me, although I might be willing to pay more, just out of principle.

Sorry, for resurrecting this old topic but I have also noticed this pricing and wondered why is RuS so expensive?
All the games are at 19.99€/$ , PoN (which is brand new) is at Gamersgate for 4.99€(I bought it) and Rop is around 10€ on steam (bought it too), but RuS is at 29.99€ which prohibits me from buying it. I have bought AACW (nobilis edition) when it came out, BIOA2 for less than £10 in the UK (ASCARON edition)...

I don't understand this pricing specially since it's supposed to use the same engine as RoP.
As you can tell I appreciate all your games (except WWOne....) and don't criticize them it's just after trying out the demo I was put off by the price and suppose others were too.

ps: I also used to own Napoleon's grand campaigns but I don't think I can download it off the AGEOD store anymore since it was 2 years ago.Just checked I had paid 39.99€ back then... I was insane...

There will be some price change in RUS in the coming weeks. We are right now checking our policy for 2012 and price reduction on "old" titles will come when the new games are approaching release :)
