Some in depth articles about AGE engine for newcomers

Sun Dec 05, 2010 1:00 am

AGE engine used in RUS is a very elaborated wargaming system used in almost all AGEOD games.

Some concepts are very complex. So here some links to articles explaining in details some of this unknow " under the hood" features:

Clovis: if you want to include this link in your post above... I'll just delete this post after you do so. :)

You really should put more info in the manual and also the tutorials. [Almost] everything should be in the manual. One of the few grips I have with AGE games is that you have to search for informations on the wiki or worse on the forum to have information on some aspects of the game.

On RUS in particular - I can't access to the manual from my Gamersgate page, too.

About Regional Policies and Loyalty losses

Regional Policies (Requisitions, Conscriptions, Tcheka, Land Reform and Subversion) are causing losses or gains in Loyalty among population of an aera.

When you're selecting say Tula, all regions belonging to the same aera than Tula will be impacted by Loyalty changes.

How loyalty loss or gain is computed?

Let's take an example.

In the Tver region, Red Loyalty is 80, Green is 20

Red are applying a Regional Policy causing-20 Loyalty for Reds.

First values are normalized as so:

RED :60 Green: 20

Loyalty sum must always be 100. Here now lacks 20 % Loyalty to share among all Factions having a support in the region. In this case, Reds and Greens will be the only Factions having support in Tver Region

Red will get 60% of the 20% lacking and Greens the other 40%

So, at start, Red will lose few loyalty because their support is high. But when their support will be lower, say 50%, losses will be higher, simulating at first benevolence of a sympathetic population, which will be infuriated by new requisitions or conscriptions orders...
