"it's a music sufficient profundity to say that he was somebody who wrote from a true necessity to make music ,It wasn't just a pose. Anger sadness passion in it..." He actually compose Flute Sonata E minor.

In 1980 Democratic Germany gave the honour back to Frederick, well made documentary.

As a great fan of Frederick II. I think it was wrong that the old Prussia was so badly judged and mauled at the end of WWII. It seems forgotten that the last democratic elected government in Prussia was a Social Democratic one before the Nazis take power and fired many democratic oriented civil officers and officials and employees to install an unethic and cruel administration.
I hope for a reinstitution of a federal state "Prussia" here in our Federal Republic of Germany because too many federal states have problems like the states of Berlin and Saxony-Anhalt and Lower Saxony. All together areas which belonged to Prussia for a long time.

Prussia was here in Germany the first country which gives full citizenship to Jews and gives Religious Freedom to all inhabitants since the days of Frederick II.
Sadly it gains some reputation for militarism and in the 20.century for Totalitarism...

Sorry for offtopic so far...

greetings

Hohenlohe

edit: sadly I was not able to get access to the documentation because its not allowed for my area...

In BBC documentary, There is underlined statement that Hitler's militarism shouldn't be mixed up with Frederick's. But also says that During 7 years war most officers were from nobility. Thousands of officers form nobility died in the 7 years war and it created some honour and power for future Prussian aristocracy or nobility. it should have created butterfly effect for future totalitarism.
It also talks about religious tolerance of Frederick and the "Dualism" in personality but adds that playing flute and militarism does not contradict. He is a philosopher king unlike his father.
It is stated that In 1945 Gobbel did try to connect "Miracle of the House of Brandenburg" with the death of Franklin Delano Roosevelt. But irony is Soviet attacked immediately after the death of Roosevelt. History didn't repeat this time.
in 1980 Democratic Germany adressed him as "King of beggars" as a socialist hero who treated well to his people in his time..
